My mother had a generous heart. Her love language was gifting.

But what made her truly special was that her gifts were never ordinary. She had a knack for finding the most unique, colorful (often random) treasures, the kind that made you smile and wonder, where did you even find this?

One of those treasures was a pair of lime green shorts she gave my son Julian when he was four years old. Julian fell instantly in love with them.

Even though they were nearly impossible to match with any T-shirt, he wore them day in and day out, proudly and unapologetically. It didn’t surprise me.
